ABOUT CAMILLE

Camille Young is an international award winning contemporary realist painter living in Moraga, CA. As a studio artist she uses her camera as a sketchbook to capture the intrinsic beauty of subjects which she finds interesting, whether it be landscape, cityscape, still life, wildlife, figures or floral. The camera allows her to document fleeting moments of light on subjects or moments of suspended activity. She paints primarily in watercolor and also enjoys painting oil on canvas or board. Camille likes to push the limits of the watercolor medium with multiple layers, exaggerated color, a vigorous brush stroke, and sometimes an unexpected texture.

Camille enjoys finding subject matter in places she’s visited including Europe, Malta, South America and Asia. Her intent is to convey the atmosphere of the location, the colors, the antiquity, and the shapes of things.

Young’s unique painting style has earned her accolades at numerous local, national and international juried competitions. Her many awards include; the Grumbacher Award, Winsor Newton Award, and finalist in The Artist Magazine-Experimental Category.
